Another one of Pittsburgh's famous attractions is the 'Falling Water' house, designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935. The building is located about an hour away from the city, nestled in the woodlands of Fayette County. This is one of the most well known homes on the planet and regarded as a 'grandfather of modern architecture'. The building is nestled on top of a waterfall and has been designed with gravity defying cantilevers, natural materials, and finished with a beautiful interior design.

Crazy platforms and cantilevers

Even the walls built with cantilever limestone! Not good really in the mountains - snow and ice will form on the ridges, and then melt, causing expansion and shrinking. This causes cracks which allow water to seep in. Not that FLW gave a hoot...this is art after all, and the owneers are so rich they can surely maintain regular upkeep!

Our Frankie boy absolutely loved to cram you into claustrophobic hallways and stairways. What a way to give a breath of relief then, walking out into the rooms, surrounded by such beauty!
